Hi! My name is Riley. I am an artist currently reaching the end of her studies in Studio Art at Dawson College. 

 

My work is inspired by various concepts such as dark and somber themes, while also often combining feminine and delicate themes. I draw my inspiration from personal experiences and aspects of my personality and style to lead me into the art-making process. External sources such as shows and movies (animated or live action) also allow my creativity to flow freely and create. My process of art-making has evolved greatly: my creativity has grown abundantly and my technique has considerably improved. My fondness for making art further drives my desire to create.

 

I begin my creative process by brainstorming myself, often listening to music or watching a movie and obtaining an idea. I experiment different compositions by sketching with graphite, and then work my way into the final process. I gravitate more towards darker materials such as charcoal or conté, as I enjoy the exploration of value in art. However, I also really relish in the experience of exploring new and unfamiliar materials. Deciding when a piece is complete is intuitive; if what I planned on conveying has been expressed and I am proud of my efforts, my work is finished. Each work pushes me to explore to a greater degree what my artistic voice has to offer.
